General Care for Fine Gold Jewelry

While the 18K gold used in our designs is resilient, it can still be subjected to scratching or dulling from everyday elements.

• The “Last On, First Off” Rule: Your jewelry should be the finishing touch to your outfit. Apply cosmetics, perfumes, lotions, and hairsprays before putting on your jewelry, as the chemicals can create a film on the gold and cloud the stones.
• Know When to Take it Off: Remove your jewelry before engaging in rigorous physical activities, heavy lifting, or household chores.
• Avoid the Water: Never wear your fine jewelry in swimming pools or hot tubs. Chlorine is an enemy to gold alloys and can cause structural damage and discoloration over time.
• Proper Storage: Diamonds are the hardest natural substance and can easily scratch your gold and softer gemstones. Store your Be Mine pieces individually in their original boxes or soft fabric pouches to prevent them from rubbing against one another.

Caring for Diamond Jewelry

Diamonds may be incredibly durable, but everyday wear can cause oils from your skin, dust, and soaps to build up on the surface, dulling their signature fire and brilliance.

• At-Home Cleaning: Create a gentle soaking solution using a bowl of warm water and a few drops of mild, lotion-free dish soap. Let your diamond jewelry soak for 10 to 15 minutes.
• Gentle Brushing: Use a dedicated, extremely soft-bristled toothbrush (like a baby toothbrush) to gently dislodge dirt. Pay special attention to the back of the diamond and the setting, as this is where dirt tends to collect and block light.
• Rinsing & Drying: Rinse thoroughly under warm running water (always remember to plug the sink drain first!) and gently pat dry with a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth.

Caring for Gemstone Jewelry

Our Spectrum of Elegance collection features a breathtaking array of precious colored gemstones. It is important to know that not all gemstones are created equal, and their care routines must be adjusted accordingly:

• Sapphires & Rubies: Found in pieces like our Midnight Ruby Tennis Bracelet or Luna Sapphire Ring. These stones are part of the corundum family and are highly durable—second only to diamonds. You can safely clean your ruby and sapphire jewelry using the same warm soapy water and soft brush method used for diamonds.
• Emeralds: Found in our Imperial Glow Bracelets. Emeralds require a much gentler touch. They are naturally softer and often feature natural inclusions that are treated with oils. Never put emeralds in an ultrasonic cleaner or expose them to harsh chemicals or hot water. Clean them simply by wiping them with a soft, damp cloth. Do not soak them.
• Blue Topaz, Citrine, and Other Gems: Clean these gently with lukewarm soapy water. Avoid exposing these stones to sudden, extreme temperature changes or prolonged, intense sunlight, which can occasionally affect their vibrant color.
